Filming in Fenway

Tuesday, September 15, 2009

They will be filming “The Town” with Ben Affleck in Fenway this week.

There will be some helicopters and gunfire related to filming.  They will be doing a lot of stunt and special effects work, including simulated gunfire. They will be in contact with the residents and businesses directly impacted by the filming and closures.

Update, this evening 8th October 2009 they are filming scenes of the movie “The Zoo Keeper” with Kevin James and Rosario Dawson.

Cab Scene with Rosario Dawson

Later this evening around 11pm, they will be shooting some kind of chase scene right below our condo window. I posted two photos to show you the evolution of the fake wooden and plastic sidewalk and wall that went up in one day.

Just building it Almost finishedLook how real it looks on the right, they spend hours on it, detailing it with spray oils and gunk!

Our 8 year old beautiful Great Dane Pru was taken to the emergency vet hospital locally last night around 8pm, with the help of a great friend we were able to carry her in a blanket to the car. I came home after work (Jay was away for business) and she was unable to lift her self to stand. We were told about 10 months ago that she had hip dysplasia and that this day would come, but not this soon.

After a series of tests to rule out possible causes it is most likely to be Wobblers Disease. which is malformation of the vertebrae near or at the neck and affects the spinal column, thus restricting nerves and causing neurological problems. There is a test to determine if in fact it is Wobblers, but that test is $2000 and if it was determined to be Wobblers, the surgery would be an additional $6000 or more. She is currently comfortable resting and has been receiving medication all day as well as steroids to reduce the inflammation and swelling.

We are torn up with sadness and very hurt with this sudden decline in her health, but given her age, the further monetary obligation, and our home being on the 5th floor we will most likely need to let her go.

Jay will arrive home sometime tomorrow and will go right to the hospital to see her for a few hours and we will decide what is best for her.

Thank you and Pru thanks you for all your love over the years.  We LOVE HER VERY MUCH and will miss her oh so much! I know everyone says this- but she is a very sweet and wonderful dog.

added July 11th:   Jays facebook status:  ”At 6:55 pm we said goodbye to our best girl as she slipped quietly and peacefully away in my arms. We will never forget your Pru. You were our heart.”   Here is a link to a slide show Jay made.

Forest Lawn Cemetery: Michael Jackson Burial Site

posted by admin 10:46 PM
Monday, July 6, 2009

Prior to his Memorial on Tuesday, July 7 Michael Jackson will be buried at Forest Lawn Memorial Park. The cemetery, located in Glendale, Los Angeles, is the burial site for some of Hollywood’s most famous names including Humphrey Bogart, Lucille Ball, and Sammy Davis Jr.

Jackson’s burial is scheduled to take place at 8 a.m. on July 7, 2009. Whether or not his grave site will be open to the public is unknown as some parts of Forest Lawn are private.

Though the Jackson family is tight-lipped about the funeral plans, businesses around Forest Lawn mortuary have reportedly been contacted by the LAPD and asked if their facilities can be used on Tuesday by authorities.

According to Assistant Chief of Los Angeles Police Department, Jim McDonnell, Forest Lawn officials were working with the Jackson family on their plans, which were part of “a package” of events to be held on Tuesday.

Because of Forest Lawn’s privacy it is unknown who exactly is buried there but it is rumored that Jackson’s final resting place will be alongside icons among the likes of Walt Disney, David Carradine, and Bette Davis.

Toronto Pride

I have not actually written much in a quite a while, only the various posts about the AIDS walk and of course Michaels’ death. We are still going to London and I think I will pay to have them send me his ticket as a keepsake.  So this past weekend we attended Pride in Toronto as well as seeing a great friend that use to live in St. Louis. It was exciting, the largest Pride I have ever been to with blocks and blocks of closed streets and parties all day and night all weekend long.

We even ZipCar’d it down to Niagara Falls one day from Toronto to see the falls and of course they were amazing and I actually thought they looked smaller than in photos, but still powerful and packed with tourists.

4th of July in Boston and uncertain of what plans we have. Rain will most likely prevail this year as it has been raining for days and weeks and more days, which makes for a depressing holiday.

Things to check out: Dan Savage Pod Casts, Andi Smith the comedian, and of course my facebook page for all the photos from Toronto.

Cheers and Happy 4th!

As for the King of Pop, he was 50.I am very sad.. I grew up with Michael, dancing like Michael and lip syncing to all of his songs. I was going to London to see him in August.

Very Sad.. Very Very sad.
